Nick is an amazing 6 year old fighting T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). He was diagnosed at 4 years old on Oct. 15, 2008 and here is the story of his courageous battle. This day changed our lives forever. Nick seemed very healthy at the time and the only signs we noticed were swollen lymph nodes on his neck. At first, we thought it could be a virus, but after 2 rounds of blood tests, the doctors confirmed our worst fear, cancer. This site is to show how strong our little boy is.
Update:
Nicholas finished treatment on 11/18/2010. He will continue to go for blood work for the next 3 years. He is still in remission.

The Shannon Family -- Nick is Nick again
Nick is off the steroids for a couple of weeks and wow what a change. After a tough weekend with him you start to think where is my child inside that body. As always, he bounces back right away to his old self again. Greg took him to clinic yesterday and he did great. We packed up a bag of candy so he could give it out to the nurses and his friends at clinic. He had the shot in the leg and blood drawn for counts. We tried to explain to Nick that they did not have to access his port for the blood, just draw it from his arm. He was upset and wanted his port accessed, well after trying to arm, the nurse ended up accessing his port..... I guess a 4 yr old can be smarter than his parents. His counts came back great... actually the nurse said 'excellent', so we'll take it. We hope to bring Nick to school again this week and try a playdate again.
